Martha Villafrade-Blume, LCSW, BCD

I was born in Bogota, Colombia and immigrated to New City, NY at the age of 13. I completed my Bachelor's of Science in Applied Psychology and Sociology from New York University.

Shortly after graduation, I enlisted into the United States Army and served as a Behavioral Health Specialist at Fort Leonard Wood, MO for three years.

I received my Master's of Social Work through the Army-Fayetteville State University, Master of Social Work program, at Fort Sam Houston, TX. I served as a Social Work Intern at William Beaumont Army Medical Center, at Fort Bliss, TX.

I have been working as an active duty US Army Social Worker since 2017. I also served as a company commander at the Medical Center of Excellence; and as an Instructor/Writer for the Behavioral Health Technician Program at the Medical and Education Training Campus, both located at Joint Base San Antonio, TX.

The majority of my work is solution-focused, evidence based treatment. I mainly specialize in trauma (PTSD), anxiety, depression, relationship/family conflict, stress, life transitions, and grief. I focus on individual therapy, with adults ranging from 18 to 60 years old. I have vast experience working with first responder, combat, and sexual trauma treatment.

I consider therapy a shared journey. Ultimately, you decide where you want to go, and my job is simply to assist you in getting there. Transparency, genuineness, open-mindedness and empathy are the foundations in which I establish my practice.
